Zadar Zadar - Korcula
Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 03:46 PM UTC
Hello VTs,

Will be arriving in Zadar next month and have a couple of questions.

We're flying in and arrive around 9pm. If we take a bus to the centre at that time should be still be ok to get a private room in the old town? Hoping to get something for around 300KN for the night.

Also, we're looking to go from Zadar to Korcula - is there a ferry that goes between the two or will we have to change in Split?

Will be grateful for any help.

Harry, Glasgow.

Hi,
as you are arriving late in Zadar you should book room in advance and organize that landlord wait for you on the bus station. Keep on mind you will be there in midle of high season. From Zadar you take a bus to Split you have buses every hour but book ticket day or two before leaving (take 3 hours). From Split to Korcula town you have Katamaran (speed boat) KRILO JET leaving Split 17.00 arriving in Korcula 19.30. It is the cheapest and quicker way (55 kuna pp)

As well as the Krilo catamaran mentioned above, there are also Jadrolinija car ferries from Split to Vela Luka, which are met by buses to Korcula town. Depending on the day of the week there might also be a Jadrolinija ferry to Korcula town. The ferry is much slower than the catamaran but more enjoyable as you can go out on deck and enjoy the views of Brac and Hvar on the way. See www.jadrolinija.hr.

Zadar doesn't have good ferry connections to the south (i.e. beyond islands immediately nearby) so as the previous poster said, you'll have to get as far as Split by bus.

Thanks both for your help, much appreciated.

We are still to decide on whether to go to Korcula or Brac for an island stay. We will be looking to relax during the day but to have some decent nightlife options at night - good bars rather than clubs.

Any advice on whether to go for Korcula or Brac?

Thanks again,

Harry.

I found Korcula much more interesting than Brac as far as sightseeing and generally exploring are concerned, but I don't know about beaches or nightlife.

Thanks Alan, I'm inclined towards Korcula, think the Mareska festival will be on when we're there as well, but will want a bit of life at night.
