Arrive Darwin 1pm Saturday 1st August and joining tour Sunday Evening which leave us the remainder of Saturday and all day Sunday to do our own thing pre tour.
The tour includes a morning tour of Darwin Monday.

Any suggestions of special things happening weekend, including markets, possible boat cruise, where to take good photos and a good place for dinner Saturday night, something casual.

What is the best way to get around on weekend, public transport or taxi. We will be ataying at the Vibe hotel, which they say is on the dge of the city centre and close to wharf.

Appreciate all information.

I recommend the 2 places organised for dinner by Zig for our big downunder meet last year, the Sailing Club - http://www.dwnsail.com.au/ and the Ski Club opposite the NT Museum, which is also good - http://www.darwinskiclub.com.au/

So where are you heading off for your big trip Mike?
Is it the Savanah Way? ... We are doing that after the big downund meet in September :o)

Apart from what the others have mentioned,I loved the Museum.
Also the Wharf area and the outdoor picture theatre was great fun.
There is a jump on, jump off bus that tours the towns attractions, I am sure this will be happening as it is the high season.

Mike you will just love the Gibb River road trips that you have planned. I did the long drive along the Gibb River road about 4 years ago. It is just fantastic. Next time I plan to spend at least a month or more doing this road.
Next time I will do it in a 4x4 not my Forrester Subaru AWD :)
