Phuket Foreign Exchange Booths

Hi all. I am arriving Monday night, should be in Patong by around 9.00 pm.

Can anyone tell me what time the foreign exchange booths close in Patong, and if anyone is there now, what sort of rate are they given for Aussie Dollars ?

I haven't been to Phuket in years but I think there is still a money changer at the airport. There used to be ATM machines too!

Don't change any money over to Thai baht in a different country than Thailand or you will lose on the exchange rate.

If your flight lands at Bangkok first there are several bank money changers there.

Most of the money changing is done by real banks. The rates change every working day. Here is a money conversion link, but keep in mind what you see today will be a little different when you arrive.

For as far as our experience goes, you get the best rates when you withdraw money at an ATM.

Change enough money at the Airport to cover your first night. ATMs do give a good rate, but your bank at home will charge conversion fees and credit advance fees, even on a debit card.

By the time you get to Patong, i would think all money booths will be closed. Over counter today in Patong 27 Bt to AUD.
