if you go to the Baattery Park, it will be crazy with people - perhaps too crowded - if you walk over teh Brooklyn Bridge, thats a great place to watch the fireworks

parties? I'm too old for that - always something going on in The Village - start at Washington Square and go from there!

The first part of your question is already in a post from micky.p in the NYC forum.
The answer to the second part is really wide open- whatever bar or restaurant you step into.

In honor of Henry Hudson 400th anniversery up the Hudson River, fireworks will ONLY be on the Hudson River side, (westside facing New Jersey)....then just make your way to the West Village I suppose, or Tribeca..

To clarify, Fireworks are on SIX barges between 23rd and 50th St. West Side. There will be hundreds of thousands of people watching, After the fireworks just follow the people who look like real party people.
