Viewpoint Media Player

Recently i've been getting a pop-up quite often here on VT asking me if I want to install this. Obviously I'm not going to even open it until I know what it is and certainly not going to install it! Is this something to enhance VT vids? Any other info? Also if it is a VT recommended piece of software does it take over as my default media player?

a) Have you ran your spyware.
b) Do you have another window open when you get this popup.
c) Have you cleared your cache.

Hi Pam. I last ran my spyware on Monday which gave me a clean (ish) bill of health. Cache gets cleared on a regular basis and the pop-up only appears when I'm on VT.

It's only a minor irritation and doesn't appear that often. If it's not a VT thing then I'll just ignore it and maybe it'll go away or maybe my next week's scheduled Spybot run will find it.

It's a bit wierd though because it only started appearing after I downloaded the new IE version 8 which I did after running my weekly Spybot scan on Monday - maybe it's something to do with that.

OH maybe you get it because you clear your data each session?
IE8 likely has different settings to your previous version. Just a thought.

I just cleared all my cookies and logged out and back in but don't see this viewpoint one. Must be related to changing to IE8. maybe someone knows more I'll be keen to hear.
I see by googling that it is a media plugin.

If it's nothing to with VT I'll just ignore it - but strange: ever since I posted this it has stopped appearing!!
