Lisbon Local phone-code?
Posted: Wed June 24, 2009 10:32 AM UTC
I canīt get contact to our rent-lady at Lisbon right now,and we are allready leaving day after tomorrow.I did get her mobile-phonenumber,so I could call/sms her while we are at Porto, and checked our timetables for trains.
But the number seems too short.I have of course Finnish oprators phone, and I think there should be some countrycode at her number,so I could contct her.Can someone tell, what that number is?For example:if you call to my number with Finnish phone, you can call 040544XXX But if you have foreign operator in your phone, you need to call +35840544XXX so we take that 0 away, and put +358 in the front.
Our rentladys number seemed too short to have country-code.It started with 913 and had 9 numbers.

Thank you!!I hope that number will work then.In Finland all numbers start with 0 so this looked so strange to me.

I guess the city code is also missing. According to my (German) register of international codes the country code for Portugal is 00351 and the city code for Porto is 02 (omitting the 0 if country code is dialed first), so the code would be +3512 and then the number you got.

Any Portuguese around to correct or confirm?

hi.
just use 00351 and the rest (9 numbers). fix numbers, cells, everything is the same. you dial 00351 XXX XXX XXX and that's all. All the cities have different 1st numbers but all the numbers have 9 digits, so, the prefix of the city is included. is this clear? nice calls (and a pleaseant stay of course).

Ín Portugal, numbers beginning with 9 are from mobiles. 91 is a Vodafone operator number.

Katrin, there's no 0 anymore in landline phone numbers. The landline numbers begin with 2. More or less until a decade ago, Lisbon's code was 01 and Oporto 02. That changed to 21 for Lisbon and 22 for Oporto. Nowadays, a landline number always contains the region code in it, which is a lot easier. Whether we dial local or national it's always the same number.
To dial from abroad it's +351 then the number, either mobile (9) or landline (2) without worrying about that 0 issue that is so common in many countries.
