Varna Travel Forum

Hi,

When I was in Mangalia in 2007, there was a minibus that went from Mangalia to Varna with one stop somewhere in between. It was not terribly expensive (35lei). I am going back there this summer, and I have not been able to find any information on the net about it. Even the last time I had no information, I ended up getting the details when I was in Mangalia. I will be leaving from Constanta and going to Varna. A week later I will be returning from Varna to Mangalia.

Is the minibus service still running between the 2 cities? And would anyone know the schedule for it? I cannot find any information anywhere. While i have read other constructive information about transferring a few times from place to place, I would rather get a more direct route like i had found in 2007.

www.autogari.ro used to have the details but doesn't seem to anymore. There definitely is a service a couple of times a day but I just can't seem to find it. Maybe there's been a timetable change and they haven't updated?

Ya i had the time schedule a month or so ago. Mind u, it was for a coach, not a mini/micro bus (those small white vans that hold about 12 people). Not the same thing as I had taken the last time. Not that it matters, i'd take whatever I could get.

I was able to find a route from constanta to Balchik or albena (www.autogari.ro). From there I could take a local bus to Varna (www.bgrazpisanie.com). Not as quick as the direct route I had found in 2007, but it would get me there.

Hopefully I can dig up some some more info, or as a worse case scenario, when I arrive, I can ask around about getting to Varna via those minibuses. That would give me time once I arrive in Constanta to look into alternative routes. Even the last time, I had no prior information before getting to Mangalia. When I had arrived, I asked around to find out what day/time the bus left from Mangalia to Varna. That way I don't get a surprise on the day I need to leave to find out there is no bus on that particular day.

You will get there LOL but as you say maybe best just to arrive and enquire. Sometimes it's more fun that way.

under details, it gives the departing station as "AUTOGARA SUD HERLI-SOF (LANGA STATIA CFR)" Is that the big bus station where I arrive if i was taking a minibus from Bucharest?

If not, I have not been able to find an address or anything to plug into my GPS so i can at least follow that to the station.
