London Getting to London Gatwick Airport
Posted: Tue June 23, 2009 01:22 AM UTC
Hi guys,

I am cathing a international flight out from Gatwick Airport (North Terminal)at 6.30am and thus need to get to the airport around 4.30am. What is the best way to get to the airport?

So far the best way I found was to catch a National Express Coach bus from London Victoria but the bus only gets to Gatwick Airport and not the Gatwick Airport (North Terminal). Is it easy to get to the North Terminal from where the bus stop? Has anyone taken this route and are able to share some info?

Thanks
kenningst

Yes you should have no problems getting to the North Terminal from where the bus stops. If I remember correctly the bus will drop you off at the South Terminal. It'll take about 5 minutes to get to the terminal transit. At that time in the morning the transit runs every 6 minutes and only takes about 2 minutes. I assume you are getting the 3.30 am bus from Victoria?

You will need to check in immediately and go through security as soon as you've done so as there will be quite a few early flights.

Personally, if I'm flying out early from Gatwick I arrive on the last train and just crash at the airport for a couple of hours.

There are trains from London Victoria at 330am arriving 0405am and at 400am arriving at 445am, every day of the week. The railway station at Gatwick Airport is adjacent to the South Terminal. The internal airport transit, as mentioned above, will take you across to the north terminal.

www.nationalrail.co.uk will give you train times and fares.

Airport maps here:

The shuttle is an unmanned train which departs every 6 minutes or less, journey takes two minutes.

It's good advice to go through security straight after you have checked in......queues can be long.
