Hi,

Would anyone have any suggestion for a nice hotel in the area of the library where there would be non-smoking rooms, not too expensive?

The Maritim and Angleterre both have "summer specials" (probably due to the bad weather at the moment). Both are 4*-hotels, with the Angleterre starting at less than 60 Euro/night.

The Maritim is a lot closer to Potsdamer St. (I suspect with library you mean the smaller issue of Staatsbibliothek?) but generally speaking less conveniently situated. The Angleterre would be close to Gendarmenmarkt.

Have a look at Fjord Hotel, Bissingzeile 13,10785 Berlin, which is just on the other side of the canal,five minutes walking distance to the german state library. Its modern, clean and not so pricy. You could als look up www.hrs.de - the hotel reservation system. They have last minutes offers and you can search for hotels in the surrounding of any adress.

a bit more "chic" and pricey -- try the Wall Str. hotel in Wallstraße. I got a room for 80 EUR including breakfast.
