Posted: Sun June 21, 2009 09:54 AM UTC
We will visit Sofia soon in July and and want seek advice for information on organized day trip to Rila Monastery, preferable including Borovetc. The one organized by Zigzag is quite expensive. Anyone has some ideas of other reliable agencies/hostels for day trip to Rila Monastery?

Thanks a lot.

hi,
after being many times in Rila Monastery i can suggest u travel there by ur own!
take bus from Sofia to Blagoevgrad, it takes abt 1,5 hours and then from Blagoevgrad take bus to Rila Monastery.
bus tickets will save ur money, they are cheap, instead of paying to travel agency! (sorry to all travel agents:)!
buses in Bulgaria are very safe n go frequently!
cheers,....

This is the email of travel agency Bohemia. They do day trips every Sunday and the price is 21 lv(11 euro). It includes only transport and a guide in Bulgarian.Oh,and there is no insurance in this price.

go@bohemia.bg

Also I found this: http://www.mitch-transferbg.com/en/tours.htm

I prefer going on my own but unfortunately the transport in Bulgaria is not well organized and also it is hard finding information in English. So probably would be better go with a group.

Good luck

There is regular bus from Sofia to Rila Monastery (it takes you just in front of it:D) and after few hours same bus takes you back to Sofia. Easy and very cheap.
