Hi!

As my Istanbul tour is getting closer I seem to be bombaring you all with questions.

First please tell me whether I should use the Turol service or the one from Eminonu?

Which is cheaper, more comfortable and less crowded?

Second tell where we should get off ?

We shall be travelling with 2 babies so would it be wise to do a two way trip or one way?

If oneway then how should we get back to Eminonu?

Thanks for the fantastic feebacks!

We did the evening Bosporus ferry, which leaves from Eminonu around 7PM and returns around 11PM. It stops at a number of small towns along the Bosporus, and then stops for about 90 minutes at a small town near the Black Sea, where you can get out and have dinner at one of the numerous fish restaurants along the water. It is not fancy, but gives you the same views that a more expensive private tour would.

Feel free to visit our Istanbul page here on Virtual TOurist for more info about this and other things to see and do in Istanbul.

Hello, I've returned from Istanbul just a week ago. I did the Bosphorus boat cruise by regular ferry on Saturday and it was reasonably full but far from crowded. Most people, once the ferry left the dock, stood up and went back and forth and up and down the deck to take photos so finding a place to sit should be no problem.

The return ticket to Anadolu Kavagi, the last stop on the Asian side, cost 20 TL. These ferries depart from Eminonu from the dock closest to the Galata bridge. I took the 13.35 one, but there is also an earlier one at 10.35. My ferry departed from Anadolu Kavagi at 17.00, arriving to Eminonu at about 18.30.

I would recommend you to take the boat all the way to Anadolu Kavagi and go up to the ruined fortress Yusa Tepesi which is actually not that difficult to reach on foot. The view of the Black sea from there is magnificent! On the way down, there is a nice cafe bar where you can get some refreshment or you can go all the way down to the small harbour and get lunch in one of the several fish restaurants. I also recommend the ice-cream place, ice-cream was rather cheap and delicious.

I can't recommend other stops along the cruise as I went all the way to Anadolu Kavagi and returned with the ferry without stopping in any of them.
