Please share with me and others information on how are you going to get to the 6th official European Virtual Tourist Meeting which will take place in krakow on 28-30 May 2010?

I put some info on my homepage but I need your help to update it. Just a few specific questions:
- how to find out the best air fares to Krakow from overseas (Australia, USA, Canada, Argentina, South Africa etc. etc.)?
- when and where to book flights to Krakow?
- what internet pages do you use to find your flights?

I've been told that crossing the border between Poland and the Ukraine is easier if you go by train. Don't know if this is correct, but maybe we should consider this option.

Bernd, travelling by train is also very nice and I wouldn't mind a bit!!!:-))

About Lviv trip and Poland-Ukraine border crossing:
1. I asked questions to bus drivers (company) who travel there and wait for their answers (on approximate costs, waiting time on border etc.) + about the new option on going to Sibiu and then back to Krakow by hired bus.
2. I will also personally check it because I am going to drive by my car to Lviv :-); well, in a few weeks probably.
3. There is official webpage of Polish Custom Service which gives up-to-date daily information on waiting time in hours on eastern borders of Poland: today on Medyka Polish-Ukrainian border crossing point it's 0 hours for buses and passenger cars (to Ukraine) and 0 hours (back to Poland) for buses and 1 hour for passenger cars:

So, it's not that bad.

We (matcrazies and DAO) stay in Hotel Campanile (fri-sun). I booked it by www.booking.com ---> I'll pay 460 PLN (Polish zloty = a bit over 100 euros) for double room for 2 nights with breakfasts.

As for the Hotel Campanile price (and generally many other hotels in Krakow) the price can change each day. That's why after the first reservation I check it again and again (and call them) and I cancell the more expensive booking and book the least expensive one - I've just done it (I'll pay 340 instead of 460 PLN now and will check it again). Generally I check own webpage of hotel, www.booking.com and call the hotel.

Course of Polish currency (PLN or zl = Polish zloty) to euro is unpredictable but many economists say that it will be more worth to euro in 2010. Anyway, Poland is now less expensive (by 10% to 50% in my opinion) than Portugal.

You are welcome to Krakow :-)

Only two things are more expensive in Krakow than in Cascais and Portugal: Port wine (and generally wine) and guarded parking in downtown or close (even over 20 euros per 24 hours).

Not an issue for me - I won't be driving anyway...

As for the wine, I guess we can drink Polish liquor instead of Port!

Flavoured vodka for me..bisongrass or cherry, for preference. :-)

Usually I just drink a single glass of wine with dinner, if I drink at all. So if the wine is going to be expensive I am just as happy to have a cup of coffee.

Well, in my case, I should have no problem getting the guys to buy me drinks - all I need to do is wear one of my sexy dresses!

Either a plane from Cph or Malmö - as Ove mentioned there are several options for around 50 €.

... Or the **FUN** version - The ferry down to Sczczeczcin and then train trough the country with one or two stops dwn to Krakow.

We discussed it last night in the Cph group. Boat trips are ALWAYS big fun!

Raz: if you're doing it the fun way, let me know. I'd like to take a trip like that.

Haha, the train Swinoujscie ---> Szczecin ---> Kraków ---> Przemysl is called "Orient Express" in Polish slang - it's the longest Polish train line. It's a bit slow but very adventerous itinerary :-). As for stops on the way I would think about Poznan, Wroclaw and Opole.

Amelie you have only met 3 of the 4 Great Danes. You have not met Allan yet. Be careful what you ask for. I have seen these guys go Medieval in a bar with weapons (Pictures on my Stockhome page). When their Viking lust is fueled by alcohol they go into rape & pillage mode. There is a chance all 4 of these Great Danes could be in one place next year. As Poland joined the EU late they are actually not barred from being together there. Yet.

Whatever you do - do not wear flowers in your hair or find yourself chained outside the city walls in Krakow.
