No you don't need to wear a mask.

No you don't need to avoid pubs and crowded places.

Life is going on in Bangkok as usual.

Masks offer no real protection anyway!

Ordinary flu is killing many more people than the swine flu anyway and all the reports indicate that swine flu is milder than the ordinary version.

Enjoy Bangkok and do not worry.

The prblem with H1N1 isn't its deadliness, but its virulence. The fact that it has crossed species makes it more a concern. It has demonstrated the ability to mutate and spread.

That said, as said, a mask is of limited value. They are best if used by the infected individual. Handle as little as possible and keep your hands away from your face. Wash often, with soap and water.

yeah,, exactly!! Don't forget to wear mask and avoid crowded places.

The four key things to do that will help in preventing you from getting the H1N1 Flu or Swine Flu:

1. Wash Your Hands
2. Cover Your Cough
3. Stay Away from People Who are Sick
4. Don't Touch Your Face

Hope this help.. ;)

I think you have as much chance of getting swine flu where you live, than in Bangkok. The airport in your home country will have more nationalities / travellers in it while you waiting to fly,(higher risk of coming into contact with an infected person)than you will most probably encounter in Bangkok.

Go and enjoy your trip...to me it is one of the most amazing places in the world

Mike

We went to Bangkok during the heigth of the Bird Flu scare.
As others have mentioned, we had no trouble whatsoever.
There are 419 possible cases here in Miami Dade county with one death on Tuesday - life is going on and I'm not wearing a mask.

Please go and execise obvious precautions which others on this thread have mentioned.
Wash hands often (carry hand sanitizer which is what we did).
Do not touch your face or mucous membranes
Do not eat/drink after others.

Just use your common sense like there was an outbreak of flu in your neighbourhood of Bangkok.
The strain of H1N1 in Thailand is not dangerous, according to a report i just read, 95% of cases in Thailand do not need medication of any sort. Rest at home for a few days, that's what the Ministry of Health is advising those with signs of the flu. Im in Bangkok i never seen anyone weraing a mask in a public place, just a few school kids in their playground.
