Hi does anyone know if there is a really nice place to swim and see the sea life yet in safe water. I read somewhere that there is a good place in Hua Hin. I am traveling in dec on way back from NZ Cheers Michael

Can't say for Cha-Am but while the beaches at Hua Hin are decent, there's not much marine life for snorkeling. You'd probably do better if you go to Ko Tao during the summer months or the Andaman Coast (Krabi areas such as Phi Phi, etc.) during the winter months. Snorkeling trips by ferries, speedboats or less expensive longtail boats are offered daily from Krabi's Ao Nang Beach, Ko Phi Phi Island, Phuket, Ko Lanta, or the islands off Trang.
Of the Gulf Islands, Ko Tao offers pretty good diving and snorkeling.

Hi

We've been on a daytrip to Koh Tao when staying in Samui in 2005.
On that excursion we also stopped for a while on Koh Nang Yuan : clear blue water and great snorkling opportunities: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/114fff/16186f/4/

Have fun !

By the time you come it will be the best time for Andaman coast. Try Moo Koh Surin and Similan in Pang-Gna or check out Trang, both are very good for snorkeling.
