hi folks, im of to dubai next week staying in the mina a salam.was wondering what prices to expect. say lunch for 2 ,or dinner for 2, how much is a beer how much is an average bottle of wine,just a rough estimate of prices to expect in this 5 star hotel

The price depends on what you take as lunch or dinner and if you add drinks to your meal or not but on average a meal for two without drinks could cost anywhere from 250 to 400 AED!!

Generally, prices tend to be a bit higher in those restaurants that are licensed to serve alcohol (which the ones in Mina A'Salam are).
For a 3 course-meal for dinner (just food) I'd estimate around Dhs 200.- per person..

A bottle of Heineken beer will probably be around 27 Dirhams, for wine prices we'll have to wait for Colin's expertise :-)

No expertise on wine prices from me Jess, I refuse to pay the ridiculous amounts the hotels charge!

Eric, I suggest you get out of the hotel and get the flavour of the area by eating in some of the restaurants in streets or malls.(Plenty of suggestions in our Restaurant Tips here on VT). They can't sell alcohol, so if that's a must for you you're stuck with paying silly prices in five star hotels.

You can get a meal for two in excellent restaurants for as little as AED100.

BTW, our favourite buffet is at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi, a short taxi ride from your hotel. The good news is that drinks (unlimited) are included in the cost, the food is the best, price is AED200 each.
