In Beijing with time for sightseeing

Am in Beijing for work and have some time free on Thursday and Friday 18/19 June for sightseeing and shopping.

Can anyone suggest a good local guide, reasonable rates for a day or two, who can provide insights into getting around town, the silk markets, good place to get a meal and a place to have a drink in the evening etc.

Suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

I used chinauniquetour but I contacted them before I left for China. They will tailor a day for you with a guide, just google them. There are lots of young people in Beijing who are tour guides but the driver needs to be scheduled in advance. I suppose the hotel people would be able to set you up too.
