Cairo Distances

Can someone please let us know how far is Khan El Khalili, Coptic Cairo, Old Cairo from the Ramses Hilton Hotel?

How much should we expect to pay for a cab in LE from the hotel to these locations?

How much will it be if we get a cab driver to do the following for a full day?
City Tour to explore Saladin Citadel, Mohamed Ali Mosque, Coptic old Cairo, old Churches, Jewish Synagogue & Bazaar

old Coptic Cairo and Jewish Synagogue can be visited with OUT a taxi. Walk to Sadat (Tahrir) Metro station and depart at Mar Girgis Station. It will cost you one LE and you can spend 3 Hrs. Don't forget to visit Amr ben Al-'As mosque near by which is the oldest and biggest mosque in Cairo.

You can take a taxi from there or you can take the Metro back to Sayyda Zainb Metro station, depart there and negotiate a fair to the citadel, visit also nearby Sultan Hassan mosque. From there you can walk to Khan Al Khalili or take a taxi. It is a good 20 minute walk.

Good luck

It is not far at all. I would say 5 minutes walking to get from your Hotel to the Metro Station. By the way ask the hotel staff, Nasser metro station might be closer to your hotel than Sadat Metro station. I don't use Taxis in Egypt and relay mostly on walking, buses and metro.

I hope one of the locals would be able to answer that question. I actually walked from Sayyeda Zainb to the Citadel. In the way you can see Sayyda Zainb Mosque which is not that significant but you will be able to see Ibn Tolon Mosque which is very very impressive and see the Gayer Anderson Museum next door before getting to the citadel.

Walking as a transportation option will all depend on what the weather is like, the timing of your visit, your age and general health and how much time do you have to spend in Cairo. I enjoy walking in Cairo and consider it part of the attraction.

If you plan to see all these sites in a day and walk, you'll probably have to cut down on the time you spend at old Cairo. Make sure you visit the Coptic Museum.

Good luck

The Ramses Hilton is located in a rather unpleasant location, a square that is one of the noisiest due to hellish traffic jam. Make sure your room is not on the first floor.

I suggest you read a guidebook before deciding what you want to see. All ytou describe is farily caricatural. There is a gigantic part of Cairo called Islamic Cairo, which is home to beautifully renovated, old monuments straight out of Arabian Nights. Much more interesting that Old Cairo for instance.
