I was wondering what's the best way to get from San Diego Airport to LAX? I know about the train and bus but it's time consuming since they take me to Union Station and then I would catch a bus from there. My flight leaves at 1pm and I rather not head out from San Diego at 5 in the morning. Once when the canceled my flight form San Diego to LAX, they put us all in a big shuttle bus and took us there. Is there a bus company that regularily runs between SAN and LAX? Can I take the coaster up to Oceanside and catch a shuttle from there?

Greyhound Bus will charge you btwn $18-22 per person but you will still have to get from the bus station to LAX (Sample time: Leave San Diego 5:30am, Arrive LA 8:20am)
There are also lot of private shuttle companies but they average about $240-$250 for 2-3 people

Thanks. That's helpful but the time is bad since my flight leaves at 1pm. I'm starting to think about just taking the train up the day before and staying at an airport hotel.

When in California, do as the Californians do: rent a car. You can leave at 8:00am and be at LAX before noon.

I've wondered this as well. What I've come to is most routes (bus, train, car, plane) are roughly the same in cost and time. I have taken flights out of San Diego's commuter terminal to LAX without hassle. This may be one of the easiest ways to get to LAX from San Diego. The flight time is about 40mins plus 40mins before the flight takes off, then the time in LAX it's probably the quickest method; at least until our highspeed rail gets built :-)
