Petra Price of drinks
Posted: Sat June 13, 2009 02:02 PM UTC
We're going on an organized day trip to Petra in a few days. The tour includes lunch at a hotel but not drinks. We've done a bit of research about the gift stalls and drinks etc. and read that someone paid GBP18 for a glass of wine and milkshake (in a restaurant). We've been told not to take water across the border (from Israel), and will be given a bottle by our tour guide when we cross. Since we'll be there the whole day we'll have to buy bottled water and would like to know if anyone has been over recently and can you tell us more or less how much it cost and also in the restaurants. One last thing, do they accept Euros??

Thanks!

I am shure they will accept Euros, but this invites to overcharging. At the entrance of the Petra ruins (before the ticketbooth) are some shops selling water etc. and changing money (ATM about 100m before). In Petra village you might find beer for Dinar 4.-, non alkoholic much cheaper, food 4.- to 15.- (restaurants inside looked more expensive)

Thanks for your reply. Can't believe they have an ATM there. I guess I juar thought it was so remote. Looking forward to our trip and will report on the cost of things.

You can take water and snacks across the border as long as it is in your bag, its not a problem.
Then in the border and in Petra just about everywhere there are stalls that selling soft drinks and water, you can pay dinars or euro. Was about two euro for a bottle.
