Do you know which part of Cyprus you will base yours stay in - the Greek south or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus ? How much travelling around do you want to do with two young children? It may not quite be beach weather in March.
Please tell us a bit more and you will get answers suited to your family situation.

Cyprus is a lovely country, although will not be at its warmest in March.

Have a look at the VT Cyprus pages for ideas/tips/photos etc about what to see and do, all written by Vt locals and visitors.

There is much history to explore, and some really lovely countryside. You may find it quite dificult to get around the island unless you hire a car. If you are based in one of the larger resorts/towns you may find that daytours are still available in March (there are many in the high season, of course), which will help you explore if you do not have a car.

As the previous answers have stated, you need to give more information about where you are staying. I know for a fact that certain attractions like the water park near Limassol, which is good for kids, will be closed then. I have been in Cyprus in March, and a lot of the touristy type things are not open.

Realistically, a car is essential to see the island, as public transport is limited.

As a couple of suggestions for kids, the fort at Paphos (Pafos) and Kolossi Castle will let them run about for a while pretending to be soldiers / pirates / knights or whatever, if they like that sort of thing.

You could visit in May/June or in September/early October to have nice weather for the beach and miss the main crowds (although Cyprus is a popular destination all year round).

Pafos is a pleasant and popular resort, but there are plenty of others.

You might or might not see snow on the mountains in March but other areas will not be cold enough for snow.

I suggest you have a good read of the official Cyrpus tourist information website to get a proper 'feel' for this large island.

You will need to hire a car if you want to explore by yourself, although there are plenty or organised day trips available from resorts.

I consider the ancient sites at Pafos and Kourion to be entirely unmissable.
