If I'm at the Church of the Virgin Mary on the Corniche jut south of Maadi, how do I get to the Coptic Christian area via car? We have a map but drove around for three hours today and could not find it. Is it north or south of the old wall? Please help!

what do you mean by the coptic christian area ?? is that a historical or ordinary residential location ?
I am not aware of an area carrying that name in Cairo

It is where the Coptic Museum is and St. George's Church and the Hanging Church and another Virgin Mary Church... they are all in the same area in Old Cairo.

From your description, if "old Cairo" is what egyptians call "old egypt" then it should not be far at all from your starting point just south of Maadi .. sorry that I couldn't be more helpful !
