I have a friend travelling from London for a week with his wife and three kids (ages 6 to 12). He is looking for budget accommodation close to City Centre. Where is the best place to look for this type of accommodation.?
He wants to relax and his wife wants to shop.

The official tourist information website for Dublin lists all accommodation in the city:

http://www.visitdublin.com/accommodation/dublin.aspx

You can find what appeals there and, if you choose, google the hotel/b&b name to see if you can find a better deal using an agency such as www.booking.com or www.staydublin.com etc Or you can just book through the tourist info site.

Try:

www.jurysinns.com (Christchurch is probably the most central)
www.d4hotels.com (bit further out but only about 10mins from the city by DART or 30 mins walk and one of them has a pool which could be good for kids)

There's also a Park Inn in Smithfield.

They're the ones I can think of :)

Try the Maldron Hotel in Parnell Square. I got a room there, two weeks ago, for 50 Euros exc B/Fast. Nice rooms, very clean, very friendly and only 5 minutes from O'Connell street!
