Where to choose an apartment in Berlin for 10 days

Looks like I may be coming to Berlin for 10 days in October. I need to choose a room/apartment from the following postal codes/areas of Berlin. Please tell me which areas are the most desirable. I will not have access to a car and plan to get around by by U-Bahn or bus. I will arrive at Tegel.

Two suggestions:

Deluxe-Apartments:

Cheap/ more affordable apartments:
http://www.pension-guesthouse-berlin.de/
(see "2-Zi.-Cityapartments" or "3-Zi.-Ferienwohnung")

Schönhaus-Apartments border Berlin Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg. The latter one is situated in Prenzlauer Berg.
Both, especially the cheaper one, are nicely located with Kulturbrauerei (http://www.kulturbrauerei.de), Kollwitzplatz, Helmholtzplatz, clubs, bars and restaurants nearby. Same goes for public transport.

From Tegel to either of the two apartments takes 40 minutes or less:

I would chose Prenzlauer Berg or Mitte. First one is a lively area, many bars, clubs. Mitte is central. Best Chris.

First of all: i envy you a lot! I love Berlin and spent there 4 wonderful months in 1996! I must agree with the previuous answer: Mitte/Prenzlauerberg are surely the best options (former East Berlin, now living a new lively life!) but I guess Charlottenburg remains the borough where public transportation offer the best option of the city. Do not misunderstand me: Mitte and Prenzlauerberg have great connections as well but I think the area around Zoo still remains the best connected. I'll go to Berlin as well at the end of August and I've choosen a (relatively queit)street near Ku'damm.
If you want some suggestions, my tips were written in Sep. 08. Have a nice trip there and enjoy Germany's capital.

I stayed here last year, 3 minutes from the U-Bahn and lots of great little bars/restaurants and shops on the street.
