Bogotá June weather
Posted: Mon June 8, 2009 05:46 PM UTC
I am looking at going to Central or South america.

Is june an ok month to be in Columbia, or is the rainy season going to be an issue. I would like to fly into Bogota, maybe see some smaller towns in the countryside from there, then along the northern coast.

thanks!

It is unpredictable. There have been some changes in weather patterns over these last couple of years. Anyway, that's what the locals tell me.
Last year Bogota and Medellin had their normal share of rainshowers, especially in the afternoon. I can remember one day in Medellin as well one day in Bogota when it rained for the better part of the afternoon.
Also it depends on the area. But overall my experience is that, apart from exceptions that happen once in a while (due to what I wrote above), all year is quite OK to visit Colombia.
I will be going to Bogota and Medellin in 3 days from now.

Thanks! what should my travel path be from Bogota?

I want to see Cartagena and some of the coast. Not sure what else to see or do and how to go about doing. Should i fly straight to Cartagena from Bogota?

Thanks

Yes, you could do that. From Cartagena you can go to Santa Marta and explore the Parque Tayrona.

You may want to have a look at my Colombia (transportation) pages.

And the pages of member mircaskirca

Enjoy!

A bus ride from Bogota to Cartagena is cheap, and the buses are nice (be sure to go first class -- it costs very little more, and is worth it). But it's about a 20 hour ride. Brutal.

there are tons of flights from bogota to cartagena, which keeps the prices down. That's what I would suggest.
