Tanzania Gecko Adventure Tour Company??
Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 07:55 PM UTC
My husband and I (early 30's and fairly active) are planning a 3-4 week trip to East Africa in the fall. Part of it we are doing on our own, and part of it we are planning on doing with a tour group. We are looking at a tour offered by Gecko Adventure Tours because it does not just visit the game parks, but also has what seems to be a good cultural component to the tour (staying a night @ an orphanage, visit to schools, etc.).

Has anyone had any experiences with Gecko, either positive or otherwise? We are aware that it will be somewhat of a 'roughing it' experience camping, and are fine with that, but are more interested in what the guides are like, etc.

Thanks for any help!

Fall is a good time to visit Africa since the weather is just fine, not too hot nor cold. However, I cannot give you any feedback about that company since I've never tried them - nor heard of them before. But I would suggest you contact Masai Travel and talk with Jack if you are really interested in going. They are the ones who handled my last 2 African safaris and we are very satisfied with their services. Their list of accommodations are some of the best in East Africa and their staff are very accommodating and they have the most affordable prices there is. They also have cultural immersions in their itineraries and their guides are the best in the business. Send him an email at jack@masaitravel.com and he'll help you out. Happy trails.
