Booking Tickets for Opera Nationale Bucuresti Posted: Sun June 7, 2009 02:40 PM UTC
Hi,
will be in Bucharest mid-June and would like to visit the National Opera for a ballet or opera event.
Until today I've been unable to find out how to book a ticket online via http://www.biletelaspectacol.ro/
Also the webpage doesn't give a clue about the June program (opera nor ballet) on the official webpage http://my.operanb.ro/component/option,com_jcalpro/Itemid,36/lang,en/
Is the opera closed? How can I learn about the programm or book a ticket ?
Thanks for your help!

The 2008-2009 opera season is over.
Nonetheless there are some shows in mid-June (according to the opera's official website):
- a sort of graduation show of a ballet school on June 13 at 6.30PM and June 14 at 11AM;
- a ballet show named "Sombreros" on June 18 at 7PM, June 19 at 7PM and June 20 at 6PM;
You can't book tickets online, but don't worry, I doubt booking in advance is really necessary for these shows.

Thank you Taseg!
Real bummer that season's over already. Would really like to enjoy an event in the historic opera house, heard the accustic is excellent.
Do you think the "Sombreros" ballet is any good or just fills the summer gap ?
No need for reservation, mmmmmh ;-)

On a closer look, "Sombreros" is actually a French dance/music/theater show on tour, created by Philippe Decoufle. Here are some reviews:

To get a better idea check this video trailer for their previous show "Sombrero" (without the final "s" :-), the new "Sombreros" is apparently just an updated version of it:

You guys rock! Thanks so much, the above-mentioned event looks actually pretty interesting so I'll check it out.
Really looking forward to learn more about Bucharest and to explore the city. Look out for a VT member that is having the time of his life, that'll be me ;-)
