Accomodation in Brussels Posted: Fri June 5, 2009 07:24 AM UTC
Hello
Me and my wife will be travelling to Brussels via train from Masstricht arriving there on Sept 3.
I would really appreciate advice about reasonably priced hotels or apartments in good locations.
We will be staying there till Sep 6th.
Any recommendations about sight seeing, travel in and arround Brussels and good restaurants please.
Thank you all very much in advance

www.venere.com and www.booking.com are both good sites to use (and are used by many VT-ers).
They are reliable, have good mapping and honest guest reviews.
Do take a trip to Bruges (Brugge) whilst you are in Brussels....it is a beaufitul place. Gent is also lovely. Both are easily accessible by train from Brussels Centraal (Brugge is about an hour's journey). Timetables and fares in English here:
http://www.b-rail.be/main/index.html
Have a look at the VT Brussels pages for lots of information and tips about what to see/do/eat, all written by VT locals and visitors. Same for Brugge and Gent. Use the searchbox top right of the page to find them.

Hello.
It is a "wide" question. We stayed at the NH-hotel in Brussels and we loved it. It was not very expensive(90 euros) but we asked for a room for our last weekend in Belgium and the price was 280!! The reason was an euromeeting with many politicians...that must be usual in that city, so beware of that. We had to spend the last weekend in Gent instead of Brussels because there was no room available for less than 250 euros.
If you like beers...Pub Delirium Tremens(I think they have website) is great and in the middle of the old quarter.
Just walking arround the old quarter is interesting and you can spend hours. Don´t miss the old square, and the cathedral.
Good luck.

Hi,
If you are travelling by train I'd recommend staying at the Scandic Grand Place. We stayed there in Feb 08 and it was great for sightseeing and 5 mins from the railway station. Also its just a hop and skip away from the Grand Place (city centre)where there are a lot of museums and restaurants. We paid around 90 euros for a double incl breakfast.
While you are there, take a day trip to Bruges. Its truely worth the visit.I know you have only 3 days but try to squeeze it in.There are trains at every hour or 30 mins from Brussels to Bruges
Happy Travels!

I use and like very much the Mercure and Novotel chains hotels part of the bigger French chain ACCOR, website here
http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/home/index.shtml
Novotel off Grand Place is superb.
do not rent apartments there but this site I used for southern Europe and is very reliable by owners
http://www.homelidays.com/EN-Holidays-Rental/100_Home/Home.asp
you get around the GRand Place area, then over to Cinquantenaire Park, and the Atomium ,also Park Europe. All in Bruxelles, then I agree if want to explore outside of it, then Brugges is the perfect combination.

Thanks a lot Harshaw
I went to the Scandic site and got a bargain....Euro 72 per night including breakfast for 2 people
They were running a 3 nights special.
Is there a tourist information booth at the Train Station? I will be arriving from Liege and dont know which station I will be coming to.
Thanks again for your help and guidance
