Try Yoshi's in the Fillmore district. It's a lovely jazz club that may have an act that will interest you. It frequently draws an older crowd. For cabaret, there's the Rrazz Room. For blues, try Biscuits and Blues or the Boom Boom room or Lou's (Fisherman's Wharf). The Fillmore sometimes gets oldies bands that may draw out the over 50 crowd. I think Enrico's in North Beach still has live music. Get a copy of SF Weekly or the Bay Guardian when you arrive. If there's an act listed that interests you, go see it. If it's a band you like, chances are some other people in your age group will be there. I don't think there are any discos that attract an older set.
