French Polynesia Lockers for luggage in Papeete
Posted: Thu June 4, 2009 10:48 PM UTC
My wife and I are flying in to Papeete at 6AM local time and taking a ferry to Moorea later that afternoon. Does anybody know of a locker or anywhere else where we could stash our luggage for the day?

Hi James. Seems there's luggage storage at the airport. Here's the link - http://www.airtahitinui-usa.com/airports/papeete.asp When we went we didn't need to do that as we stayed for a night in Papette :o) Have a great time in Moorea!! Cheers, Ann.

I have just been in Papeete and not seen any luggage storage in the city (the Visitor Centre at the wharf was rather small), so the airport might really be the only option. As the airport is not really far from the city centre and the port, you can take the public bus. The trip (one way) should not take you longer than 20 minutes.

You could try to contact the Visitor Centre but they did not answer two or three of my emails I sent before my trip... Here is the email address:

info@tahiti-tourisme.pf

At the Visitor Centre itself they were very friendly and helpful. Perhaps they just do not want to answer emails - or my question was too... I don't know what.

Moorea is a dream! Enjoy!

there is a luggage store just outside the airport in Tahiti. I do not remember how much it costs, but I remember the fare was for day so for few hours it could be expensive.
My wife and I left there some luggage in the way from Raiatea to Moorea, we arrived early morning and we tought to take the ferry but we found AirMoorea cheap (the shortest flight in my life, take off and landing in seven minutes), so we decided to leave some luggage there at airport and be light for three days in Moorea.

Just to update everyone- we didn't use the airport storage because we talked to a driver that agreed to take us around until our ferry left for Moorea (so we didn't need the storage) and on the day we flew out we went to the Belvedere restaurant which allows for luggage storage and they drop you off at the airport.

Thanks all, time to start planning the next trip...
