www.nationalrail.co.uk is the official UK railway website.
It will give you times, details and fares for all UK trains.
You will first have to go to Birmingham New Street station: this is where the train from the airport stops. Then you will change trains for the Birmingham>Derby segment.
Total journey time is around 1h - 1h 20m, one-way walk-up fare is from 13.10GBP (depends on train time). You do not need to book your ticket in advance...UK trains do not get full-up. If there is no seat you simply stand until one becomes available.
An alternative method is to take the direct long-distance bus (coach) from the airport to Derby. This is slower than the train, but cheaper......safe and comfortable enough, and does not involve changes. The coach will not stop on the way. Journey time is from around 2hours, one-way fare 7.60GBP.
