Garmisch-Partenkirchen Access to Eibsee
Posted: Wed June 3, 2009 10:19 PM UTC
We are planning a couple of days stay at Garmisch. Among other things, we would like to make some trips to the lakes around. Can anyone give some information on how good the public transportation is to Eibsee and the other lakes ?

regards,
muvaik

You could use the cog railroad from Garmisch to Eibsee, the same cog railroad that takes you up Mount Zugspitze. Direct access to the lake is possible, the almost Carribean turquoise actually looks best from above, though.

I am fairly sure that the town buses go to Eibsee on a regular basis. There is a lake within walking distance called the Riessersee, there is a walking path from the town to the this lake and I believe there is a restaurant/cafe there. people I met in Garmisch told me about it but I didn,t have time to go there myself.

Note the Riessersee is near Garmisch, not Eibsee just to clarify my previous reply.
Another outing could be a cablecar to the top of one of the local mountains.
