Please does anyone know if it is possible to use the internet at Florence train/bus station.
If so, where is this and how much?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Does the station actually have a computer at which to use the internet (I don't have a laptop and actually need the computer itself, not just the ability to connect).
Thanks

I haven't any personal knowledge of Internet cafes in Florence, but I see that about a year ago, someone posted on Rick Steves' website the following:
"Cheapest one I found in Florence was around the side of the departure intercity bus station. When you come out of SMN train station, go to your right past where the outgoing buses to Siena and other cities are. At the intersection, there was one for €2/hr and one for €1.5/hr. In the tourist areas, they were €4-5/hr."
See the entire discussion at http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/18178/internet-cafes-florence.html

As at 2 years ago there was an internet cafe and phone place on the lower concourse of the train station. Walk away from where the buses come in and you'll find it close to the steps that lead up to street level. Can't remember the cost, but seem to think it was on the expensive side and VERY crowded. Very little space for each computer user.

Can't recall one there myself (from last year) but wasn't actually looking.
You will find some around Piazza San Lorenzo (about 5 minutes' walk from the station) if the station area itself is no use.
You will need passport/ID. I believe it is is Italian law that such ID is provided.

I think......I think there was one at street level of Hotel Aurora (hotel is upstairs). Walk out of the SMN train station to your right and its directly across the street on Via Luigi Alamanni 5. I stayed at Hotel Aurora last month and got wifi for my laptop through them. The staff is really nice there. If nobody at the train station can help you out with finding an internet cafe, go up to Hotel Aurora and ask if you can pay to use their computer (they have one pc w/internet for guests), you never know. If not, they might be able to help as to where you can go.

There was an internet cafe in the underground walkway from the station to the street a couple of years ago.

I have used the internet cafe at the Florence train station. I don't remember how much it cost. They have quite a few computers.
