I believe that Swissotel is downtown Shanghai (known as Puxing). Convenient options are: 1) Taxi - 200 RM or less, 45 mins to 1 hr 15 minutes

2) Hotel bus - there is a bus service that stops at about 6 locations downtown. They can tell you which stop is convenient to the hotel, and you could cab from there. Much cheaper (IIRC about 20 RMB for the bus), but less convenient

3) Train: Maglev train + Metro subway. Possible but difficult if carrying luggage. If daughters are teenage or adult, and you are OK carrying luggage then this way works, too, but I would only recommend if you are on a tight budget.
Best regards..Brad

If you get in a bit earlier, You could get the Maglev, but I think it still quits at 5:30. When I can't get the Maglev, I take a taxi. There are bus and limo choices, but a simple taxi ride is fastest and not very expensive, especially compared to US/European prices. Just be sure to have him run the meter. No meter, get out.

"Best" is subjective.
If you're arriving at that time, you're going to come into rush-hour traffic. You might want to consider taking airport shuttle no.2 (19 RMB/pax) and then a very short taxi ride (11 RMB) to your hotel.
Or, you could opt for a direct taxi from Pudong airport, which I think might cost around 160-180 RMB depending on traffic conditions.
I wouldn't take the Maglev knowing that the metro ride after that would be awfully crowded!!!

If taking a taxi make sure you get a Fapiao (pronounced fa peow) (invoice). This is very important in case you leave something in the taxi or have a problem with the driver.
