Carcassonne carcassonne to amelie-les-bains

we are flying to carcassone in august and need to get to amelie-les-bains. is there any train or bus links or do we have to hire a car? if we have to hire a car, is it possible to pick up at the airport and drop off at amelie, or somewhere close, as i don't want to hire a car for the whole time we are there. thanks.

I guess it is about 100 miles from the airport to Amelie. You would, I think, find reliance on public transport very restrictive unless you are planning a "stay put" holiday, and/or lots of walking.
And you would still have to return to the airport for your flight home.

Having been to Amelie-les-Bains a couple of times when visiting the area in our own car, I find it hard to believe you would be able to drop off a car there. Though the hotels may have arrangements with car hire companies.

There are a number of large Spa type hotels there and if you are staying in one of these I would contact the hotel for advice. Or if in private rented accommodation contact the owner/renter.

The streets in Amelie are steep and narrow and parking is a nightmare. So unless you are staying somewhere with its own parking - hotel or rented house - a car could be a nuisance but, in my opinion, a necessary one if you want to get there, and see the countryside.
