What would be the best way to get to the airport in Naples from Sorrento?. I need to catch an early flight to Sicily? and..approximate cost of getting to the airport.

Easiest way is with the Curreri bus, which leaves from outside the Circumvesuviana station in sorrento and goes straight to Naples airport. I always use them. Site is in Italian but easy to work out:

If the bus times don't fit, then take the Circumvesuviana train to Napoli Centrale station (about an hour, very cheap). from there you can get bus or taxi to the airport.

If your flight is really early, you may have to get a taxi from sorrento. Expect to pay around 70+ euro for this. Your hotel should be able to advise you of a reliable taxi firm.

I have the same problem and i have to be at Naples airport at around 5.30am from Sorrento in 2 weeks time.The costs i came up with were in the region of €80 - €90 from sorrento to the airport by taxi or mini bus. I will eventually try to find an airport shuttle mini bus from some hotel while i am there.

Leics... do you know if there are taxis at Meta train station as i need to get to a hotel near it when i arrive in Sorrento instead of going all the way to Piazza Tasso train station.

Just a mention: if taking a taxi or mini bus, also take your favorite motion sickness remedy if prone to car sickness. We had to take a van to be in Naples by 5:30 AM too and I was positively green by the time we got there - it's one twisty, curvy road and our very nice Italian driver had a very heavy foot on the accelerator! :)

Rockaria: not certain, haven't been there......but I'd be astonished if there were not taxis outside all Italian stations, especially in Naples! :-)

Hi all..just returned today from sorrento/positano and had a fantastic time:)
Anyway..re taxis all you's take care as i did not find one outside Meta train station AT 9.00pm saturday evening when i arrived and once at St Anniello train station...in fact in META i had to walk some time with 2 luggages with very narrow streets with no pavements, buses and motorbikes wizzing past...etc..well at least it was a 20 degrees downhill to Hotel Aminta...its better to prebook transfer to your hotel if using META as your base.

Glad you had an excellent trip.....and am now duly astonished at the lack of taxis (maybe those stations are too small to bother with?).

Thanks leics,Yes..thats right they are small intermediate stations used mostly by locals.but sorrento main station was well served with taxis.
