Gold Coast Gold Coast at XMAS with toddler and baby - totally mad?
Posted: Tue June 2, 2009 11:52 AM UTC
Hi - we're visiting family in Brisbane over xmas this year and want to spend a week recovering afterwards in either Noosa or Caloundra.

We'll have a 2.5yr old and a 6mth old baby to entertain...

We've heard Noosa is classier but pricey and Caloundra may be best for kids/families.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which town and any resorts/hotels you've been to which offer apartment style /self catering accommodation with aircon and a good shallow pool for toddlers? Maybe a playground with slides, swings?

Most of the "Kid Friendly" resorts assume older kids with deep pools and access right outside the accommodation - too scary.

Hi - I don't have any specific recommendations for you, but just wanted to say that you'll be fine with your young family. You are right to insist on air con... definitely a good idea with little ones in QLD at that time of year. You'll find that most places have it, I'm sure. And about the pools as part of the accommodation, I'm sure they're all fenced, so they won't be able to get in without you being there. Have a great trip with whatever you decide to do.

Hello,My girlfriend and I stayed @ Big 4 caravan park in Tewantin which is about 15 minutes drive west of Noosa. We stayed in a self contained bungalow with a small kitchen and all the facilities. If I remember rightly,it cost $60/night but this was during November-2008.I found this to be the cheapest place to stay in the Noosa area. They also have a pool and I think a little wading pool for kiddies...So,I don't know what your budget is,but this would be about the cheapest, but also very clean and comfortable...If you're interested tho',I would not hesitate in prebooking online now,as it will be extremely busy during the Christmas period...
Personally,I prefer the Noosa area of Sunshine Coast rather than Caloundra but that's only me...

Hi
We have stayed at Chez Noosa ( few years ago) and found it to be ideal-it has a pool, but is completely fenced off.The cost was minimal (A$75.00per night)
Noosa is alovely area, and the beaches are superb.
Have a look at their website

I also recommend Noosa Heads, right on the beach and plenty of interesting drives nearby like the Big Pineapple and Buderim ginger factory, also Glasshouse mountains. We stayed at Ocean Breeze apartments at Noosa heads, directly across the road from the beach, and the apartments were lovely. There is a swimming pool but I,m sure it is fenced, this is law now.
Be aware that Noosa Village is a little inland and is a separate town to Noosa heads.
