Travelling with young family

Hi
Looking forward to a trip to Damascus and Syria in November with my wife 2 year old and young baby (yet to be born - due this week). Some questions that I cant seem to find in the guide books:
1/ Is it OK to breastfeed in public? If so are there any local guidlines that should be followed?

2/ I hope to find a reasonablly priced (IE cheap) central hotel that would be OK for a family - any suggestions would be welcome

I've travelled all over Syria several times now and have never seen a woman breastfeed in public.
The Al Majed hotel might suit you. It is centrally located but in a very quiet, tree-lined laneway. http://www.almajed-group.com/mhotel.htm (see the Hotel section on my Syria and/or Damascus page for more comment about staying there)

I think it will be fine to breastfeed in public but sort of discretely throwing a shawl on or a light baby blanket over the shoulder to sheild the process but breastfeeding in full view then no.

Ofcourse Respecting local cultures is a given. I presume that most people that would take the time to visit Syria should be knowledgable in that respect.
Should have made my questions clearer and asked if OK to breast feed in public places, under wraps of course!

good day from damascus

there is no problem at all in breastfeeding at public places... many mothers do that in Syria
about the accommodation, please advise your budget in order to send you the best suitable options

you can check out Yalla House - damascus...

i recommend them, there found me a nice cheap place and im here since 8 months,

i never had any problems but i know lots of people had..
