Hotel this week? Posted: Mon June 1, 2009 02:11 AM UTC
I am bringing my 2 daughters to NYC this coming week, Wed-Sat most likely.
Has anyone seen any good rates/promos on 3-4* Hotels? Everything I am seeing is pretty steep?
Thanks!

Sorry I can't help you locate a hotel. Just be careful as you're searching the web for hotel bargains in NYC. If something sounds too good to be true, it is. There are some notorious dumps here. Be sure to read the hotel reviews on tripadvisor.

Oh yes, I know and I will.
I guess I was just thinking there might be ads in the newspaper that someone might have seen promoting one or another Hotel.
Thanks!

If you are flexible enough to consider staying across the Hudson River, the Marriott Courtyard Jersey City Newport is a good option. It is close to the PATH trains which take you into the city (Downtown or Midtown). Also, since it is in Jersey, the prices should be a little more reasonable.

Check out The Time Hotel. I stayed there recently for a few days, and it was a good price at $135 per night, excluding taxes. The location is good and the subway just one block away - or easy to walk almost anywhere in the city if you are walkers. The rooms aren't huge but for that price, they wouldn't be! It had all the amenities except for a coffee machine... iron, good toiletries, flatscreen TV and even 3 phones.

I stayed at the Park Central (57th and 7th) at the end of April. It cost me 112 usd (including taxes). I was apprehensive after reading mixed reviews on tripadvisor, but it is a very good hotel for the price and location (round the corner from 57th street subway, short walk to Rockefeller centre, St. Patrick's cathedral, 5th ave, Central park etc), decent sized rooms, clean beds and polite staff. Also, safe enough - once we returned at 11 in the night. Book the rooms at their website online, however. The rates quoted at the reception were much higher than the website rates.
Have a great stay.
