I think different shoes suit different people. You need to have shoes that you can walk in for ages and on hard surfaces as that will be what you are doing in the park. I would recommend buying shoes a long while before your visit and wearing them all day and seeing how your legs and back hold up. If they rub or make your body ache try other ones.

Wear some nice, sturdy athletic shoes with a padded sole. Walking around Disneyland is all concrete - there are curbs, there are trolley rails to step around, and there are a lot of people to maneuver around as wellas a lot of waiting in line just standing. Also some steps on occasion and some wet areas too. Rubber soled, padded shoes are definitely the way to go. I'm always amazed when I see people in heels or flipflops - absolutely no comfort or support!

Support for lower back? Your needs might be more than just shoes.

I'm in the medical field and many people swear by the "comfort" of Crocs! Working 12 hour shifts, walking around all day, standing, and rarely getting to sit down and relax. I myself don't own any Crocs but if you want to go that route some Disney Crocs would be awesome! My wife actually has some pink Minnie Mouse Crocs and also swears they are the most comfortable shoes she has ever owned. She hiked up Diamond Head in Oahu with them on! Go figure!

By no means is this medical advice. All I'm saying is that there are millions of people who say Crocs are "extremely comfortable".

Any shoe that you normally would wear to help your back would be recommended. I've done Disneyland in flip flops (not recommended for long term days), sneakers (best) and Wing Tips (again not recommended unless you're attending a corporate meeting at 777).

go with what you are most comfortable with.

My sister who has problems with her lower back wears a special kind of shoes which you can purchase at these particular store called: SAS. The one she has cost her fairly expensive ($145.00), although with her terrible back pains she works 12 hours on her foot. Google the name of the store which is called SAS and we hope that will make you happy and comfort to your back worries. SAS comes in about 60 various styles, so if your particular about colour and style then SAS might have a style you will be happy with and in style.
The other option you have is aside from a very comfortable SAS shoes, purchase one of those soft back girdle from a sports store and walk around it that as it certainly will support your back which is quite helpful for your back.
GOOD LUCK! Our warmest and love to Mickey, Goffy, Minnie, Donald Duck and all of those cute disney characters!

I am with the answer on the SAS. I wear them and they just don't wear out and the difference in back pain is incredible.

Hi there, i'm having the same problem!
I'll be going to Disneyland for 3 days in July & need shoes. Although i'm young I do suffer from neck/back pain.

I bought some Converse hi tops here in Australia about 6 weeks ago as I was told they are really comfortable etc. Well i'm not even going to bother bringing them as they cause me so much pain when I wear them for longer than a couple of hours!

I am looking at buying Skechers?

Does anyone recommend these? I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend!

hi there, I do have a pair of skechers, I bought this about 4 years ago from the States at a popular store called Sears. There is Sears store located about 30 minutes drive from Disneyland. The ones I bought is called "premium" and it costs me about $60.00 which is all worth it. It comes with sort of "high chuka" for better hill support. Aside from skechers, I also have SAS and between these two shoes are both good for long and many hours on foot. When it comes to comfortable shoes, American has one of the great discoveries...they are well equipped! Although, not to say anything wrong, majority are made in China, Hong-Kong, Bangkok, Asia, Honduras, Mexico or any cheaper labors (because the labor is cheaper) yet materials are from USA/ American ...

Thanks for your reply. I think I should buy some here in Aus & try to wear them in before I spend all day on my feet in the US.

Aussie Tink, I love sketchers and other cool shoes but the most comfortable athletic shoes (which I have also done a lot of walking in) were the ones I got from Athlete's Foot chain in Brisbane. I did the whole walk over the machine there and they tell you were your balance is out and what shape foot you have and bring out heaps of shoes exactly for you. I spent about $200 on a pair of Ryka shoes that looked awesome and felt even better. I have run on the treadmill for MANY hours and worked all day in them and the look great (bright red mesh look - bit like some sketchers, etc) but very very comfy. Good luck with whatever you get.

Hmm..200 is a bit more than I can afford to spend, but maybe I could go & have a look there anyway..

Thanks for your advice!
