Re: Boutique Hotels in Beijing? Posted: Sat June 6, 2009 11:51 AM UTC
The Emperor is round the back of The Forbidden City down some hutongs so very close to the heart of Beijing. The nearest subway is still quite far and its hard to get in and out of that area especially around rush hour. But the roof top bar is outstanding as you have perfect views of the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and neighbouring parks,,,a very cool place to be on a clear evening. I havent been into the rooms however.
The Opposite House is a cool hotel. Its right in the heart of Sanlitun which is the bar and restaurant area of the city. A fifteen minute walk to two subway stations and a great area to be in. I have seen the rooms and they are very modern and minimalistic and I personally would love to stay there. There are great restaurants and bars inside the hotel that are very popular too.
Hotel G is in another good location. Fairly close to The Opposite House so again, good for food and drink and is close by to the subway. They have a restaurant/bar called Scarlett which does great tapas and wines should you wish to stay in any night.
I hope this better helps you make a decision.
