Help ! Holiday with 4 yr old, where to stay Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 10:09 PM UTC
Hello, My husband & are planning a 7 - 10 day holiday South of France in early Aug 09 with our 4 yr old daughter. Areas under consideration are Nice & maybe Corsica. Can you suggest :
1) Good family resorts in these locations, preferably near the beach?
2) Any other places we should consider visting closeby?
I can extend the holiday to max. 14 days. Any other destinations we should try and cover?
Any help much appreciated. D

The whole of the coast anywhere within 2 -3 hours drive of Nice is usually unbearably crowded in August. You could consider Agay, Boulouris, St Aygulf, or Ste.Maxime for less fashionable, more family oriented resorts. For a perfect place Ile de Porquerolles, reached by ferry from Hyeres, would be my choice but accommodation is very limited there.
Sorry can't help on Corsica.

I don't know the type of accommodation you prefer for your holidays, but in my opinion a very good solution for family vacations at the seaside is renting a bungalow in a camping site. Corsica has many places where you can find these facilities. My brother was enthusiastic about his holidays there, and he did not even book in advance!

well I would start with a general advise, get a good map of the area, and travel book ,pick the cities you like to visit, then go to VT destinations on top right, and see all the wonderful tips previous travelers had posted, then you will have a good idea of what to do, and how.
in specifics, do not know corsica, but NIce is very nice ::) close 45 min by bus to Cannes, and Antibes, Vence, Villefranche-sur-MEr, etc etc. The area is loaded at that time because it is French families vacation time,so you need to book early, like now.....
here is some used by many French families*

the trend in France is to go family vacationing in camping parks using mobile homes as lodging, this is great, my family does it every year at this group

look provence, cote d'azur location for parks there. They have entertainments for kids of all ages and very safe.
Hope it helps
