Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 09:47 AM UTC
We are arriving at BKK international flight at 15.15 and our Bangkok airlines flight leaves to Siem Reap at 17.00

Are we gonna make it? I am getting really nervous now.. If we miss it will they bump us on to the next flight at 18.45 ??

thanks

Should be no problem, this year I four times had only one hour for transfer to my connecting flight, I never had any difficulty of reaching the plane in time!

I presume the connecting flight is with the same airline, therefore your luggage will arrive at your final destination and you'll have no problems. If you have booked the flight to Siem Reap separately then you may have problems!

The airport is quite efficient in moving baggage. When you leave the plane, walk quickly to get ahead of people. Everyone you pass is somone who will not be in front of you at immigration, this helps to reduce your immigration line time. By the time you hit baggage, your bag will probably be coming out. Put it on a carriage and head for the green line out of customs. When you leave customs, go left toward the motorized ramp up to ticketing. When your cart hits the up ramp the wheels lock so you can keep the carriage with you.

At the ticketing, top, level, look for a sign for the area where your airline does its ticketing. Check in and head for immigration, this takes the most time. For some reason, it takes longer to get out of the country than to get in. After immigration go to the gate and wonder what you are going to do with 2 hours on your hands.

I usually can get through the airport and to my hotel room in town in one hour 15 minutes. You should easily make the next flight.

You should be okay on a long-haul international flight as there is a bit of "margin" in their landing times.
Speak to the airline when you check in and see if you can check you baggage straight through to Siem Riep. That way all you have to do is catch the flight and not worry about your luggage. If it is delayed, you can collect it from the airport later.
Check out the terms of your travel insurance - this may / may not cover this.
Have a great trip

thanks all. I emailed BKK airlines and got a reply immediately saying that the minimum connection time is 1.15 hrs so I am fine. They also said I don't have to do immigration and that my baggage should be checked straight through.they also offered to talk to the staff if I email them the flight details to check there will be no trouble! nice of them :-)

well folks just to thank you all and let you know it was smooth sailing.Did not have to check in luggage again or actually do anything .It went straight through to the final destination no problem.Just had to follow the signs for transit passengers and walk to the next gate (asked at information desk) and then go to the next departure gate.Took all of 15 mins!
