Gold Coast Can anyone help?

Hi,

I'll be going to Gold Coast soon end of July for 4 days with my elderly parent who cant handle too much walking/hiking.
The weather will be one thing to cope with as it'll be in mid of winter, but planning things to do there will be another? Can anyone reccommend places to visit/things to do there that isnt too adventurous and more of leisurely nature.

I had thought of taking the catch a crab tour- not sure how interesting this is, can anyone comment?

As we are muslim, winery tour is out. So any other suggestion would be appreciated.

I have a few suggestions.

Currumbin Bird Sanctuary is a lovely place to visit especially at bird feeding early morning or late afternoon. -

Here's a pic of my mum enjoying the bird feeding there :o)

Seaworld is another nice place for all ages. They have some great shows and entertainment for all ages :o)

The markets are a great idea for the elderly. Carrara Markets are easy to get to and I'm sure you both will enjoy it there :o) -

There's also weekend markets at Coolangatta.

Another great thing to do is take a dinner cruise :o) You'll both love the food and entertainment :o) We had a fantastic time on the one we went on...sorry can't find the link.

Another lovely place to visit is Tropical Fruit World. It used to be called Avocado land when we lived on the Gold Coast. They have a lovely restaurant and have a stack of things to do and see, not to mention the lovely array of fresh fruit to be consumed :o)

Winter in Queensland is not very cold. Aussie Rose has given you some good ideas. A canal cruise is also nice to do, you see the rich peoples homes and usually they include morning or afternoon tea. A bus trip to the hinterland is very enjoyable as well.

I would put another vote in for Currumbin Bird Sanctuary. It has a little train that can transport you around areas of the park if your parents get a bit tired of walking.

Don't worry at all about the weather. Do pack long pants and maybe a jacket but you won't get very cold at all at the coast.

Have a great time.

I quite agree with the suggestions allready made, and especially "Currumbin Bird Sanctuary". It has more than birds to see and enjoy, so be ready for a treat.
My other suggestion would be,to take a tour to "O'Reilly's and Mt Tamborine". Allthough it can be a little cool up there this time of year, it is well worth the visit.

Currumbin wildlife sanctury gets my vote as well.

I have been on a cruise at the gold coast every year, its an all day cruise to South Stradbroke Island, where you get off and have lunch, kangaroos hopping around, very nice and you can use the facilities at the resort. Its restful and relaxing and the crew are great, a maori man sings and entertains the crowd on the way home. The cruise leaves from the Marina on the way to seaworld. I cant remember the name of the boat, but if you went to the Marina you would find the booking office there. They also pick you up from your hotel. The fee includes lunch. It was around $80 each. Grab a tourist brouchure from the hotel or ask the hotel staff.

Can also recommed the RM Williams Australian Outback Spectacular, which is located near wet and wild. Its a show with a meal, you get an akubra hat and the show involves horses and other animals. I loved it.

The aqua duck is also an old favourite. Its a tour on a vehicle that goes on land and in the water. Not a long tour and not that expensive. Again brouchures will be at the hotel.

As also mentioned seaworld is also great.

Happy holidays!!!

Oh for shopping i recommend harbour town. I know you have an elderly person with you so if you wanted to do a small shopping stint head there. Its huge and its all outlet stores.
