Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
São Paulo Guarda-Volumes?
Posted: Sun May 31, 2009 02:26 AM UTC
Oi,

Can someone please tell me where the baggage storage site (Guarda-volumes) is located at the bus station, Rod. Tiete? Also, were are the elevators located there?

Now, one technical question---I will be arriving from GRU with two LARGE suitcases, and was wondering how I might buy a bus ticket without going upstairs to the counters....(and dragging everything with me!) Any suggestions?

Finally, is there a hotel within walking distance of the station....ahhh, I mean one where I'm not charged by the hour! Obrigado for any suggestions.

Loboviejo:

São Paulo city has many bus-stations. The main is really Tietê. The others are named by Barra Funda, and, Jabaquara.
There are 9 elevators (lifters) there. There are 6 escalators at Tietê as well.
There are Guarda-Volumes there of course. I just did not use it yet. I live in Belo Horizonte but I know Tiete Bus Station is organized enough.
I suggest you ask a porter (red hat)to help you in carrying the big suitcases.
Then you may ask to the porter to follow you downstairs/upstairs up in order to buy the tickets you want. Or you may use the tourist offices to clear your doubts...Note: the porters call for fares when serving.
I am pasteing some links concerned in Hotels near Tietê Bus Station:

www.santanagold.com.br

www.bestwestern.com.br

I never lived in its rented rooms. So I cannot be sure the hotels are quite near to Bus Station. I'm not sure if you will not be charged by services. You may deal with managers before you lay down. Why don't you use Internet to get in touch with the managers before arriving?
I am sending too Tietê's Bus Station link. There are many questions you may clear up with it:

Good luck! Enjoy Brazil! Use your spanish in Brazil. The common brazilian really don't understand english fine.

Ola Cassiovieggore,

Muito obrigado! I really appreciate your advice about using the porters in the rodoviaria. Of course I have seen them before....but, I have never had the need to use their services. Your comments and websites for the hotels were also appreciated!

I have noticed that you consistently offer help and advice to allow visitors to Brasil to more fully enjoy their visits. It should give you a great feeling of accomplishment knowing that you help so many people! Voce e legal!!! Mais uma vez, muito obrigado!
