Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Vancouver Where to get a prepaid phone?
Posted: Fri May 29, 2009 05:41 AM UTC
Hello fellow travelers,

I plan to visit British Colombia for the first time in a few weeks and I think I may need to have use of a cellphone. It's not likely that my USA phones will work and will only be there for a week, so I figure my best bet would be to get a prepaid phone. Thus my question is where would be the best place in downtown Vancouver to buy a cheap prepaid phone?

Thanks for any info - Skull.

Virgin Mobile was going to be my answer too. You can get a phone for only $10 and you can buy a $20 voucher which charges 10cents a minute. Check out Radio Shack.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check it out when I arrive in BC.

No Radio Shacks in Canada, they are now called 'The Source'. The link In sent you has a list of stores where to buy, the logos on the bottom are the bigger stores.

YVRDave,

I like your motto, "Take twice as much money and half as many clothes".

You obviously know your "Scheisse" ..... which is a good thing. After a couple of aborted trips to YVR it seems that I'll soon be on my way there. I reckon it's a good time of year for a visit as well.

Depends on the quality of golf you want. Furry Creek, Northlands, Northview, Ridge Meadows, Swan-e-Set, McCleery, Fraserview, Mayfair Lakes, Morgan Creek, Langara.

Most will need a car. You can use public transportation or a cab for a few of these.

A friend just bought a prepaid phone in Victoria but was unable to use it since a credit card with a Canada address is needed to register it. The past 10 days I was able to use my Verizon Wireless on Vancouver Island without any problem.

If all else fails then I might have to do that. We'll see.

I really can't see that being the case as a lot of people don't have credit cards. I would not expect a 7-11 employee needing to go through all that much work to sell something
