Advice needed! Posted: Thu May 28, 2009 08:32 PM UTC
Hi all,
My and my other half just found really cheap flights to Phuket on the 8th June and are now looking for some where to stay.
Ive heard mixed reviews of the weather this time of year, is it better on the west or the east side of the island? Do you know if it will be possible to sunbathe or is the monsoon season not the right time to be doing that!
Can anyone recommend some where to stay as again im getting mixed reviews of places. We have about £200 to spend for a hotel for 9 nights. I would really like some where right on the beach, a little hut or something but anything will do!
Thanks so much in advance!!
Kate

It really won't matter which side of the island your on for the weather. Although the island is big enough for there to be pouring rain in one part and blistering sun in another, things will pretty much even themselves out.
Sorry I cannot help with hotel suggestions in your price range - but if you want some tips on places to eat in Patong, check my pages.
Regards
John

Hello Kate,
Well it all depends if...you would like to stay in party central/Patong or quieter Kata or maybe nothing to do but nice Nai Harn....
You are going to be hard pushed to find a place/hotel right on the beach for 200 for 9 days for 2 people...!!??..You will definitely find a place back of the beach for that price...Try Sawadee.com,atsiam.com or hotels2thailand.com...Stay 9 nights/pay for 5 or 6 sort of deal...
You will most definitely go back home with a tan..In fact be careful on the first day...You don't need sunstroke or have the appearance of a cooked prawn...
If you are staying in Phuket,be careful when swimming @ the west coast beaches(Andaman side)June is monsoon season, therefore surf season...And unseen rips and currents abound even when the swell is small...Contrary to what you might have heard "Oh there's no surf in Thailand..!!"..There is..!!..Swim near the red flags or towers..!!..If there aint none-Don't go swimmin'..!!??...
