I live in N Ireland & plan to travel to South Beach next March with around 15 guests to get married. Which is the best area to stay in - around 5th st or further up collins ave / ocean drive. And where exactly is the Art Deco District. I would greatly appreciate any comments.

best Art Deco is below 12th St and along Ocean Drive. Now they have it loaded up to 17th st, but the original best is below 12th st. and this area is call Miami Beach, different city than Miami.

Art Deco and South Beach are synonimous. But now Art Deco style buildings are all over the area of Miami Beach.

If you want to be on Collins and have an Ocean view in a high rise w/ ammenities, try Decoplage near the Ritz. And the address of Art Deco District is The Art Deco Welcome Center,1200 Ocean Drive Miami, FL 33139,(305) 531-3484.
from above address you can get the proper info about Art Deco District.

i recently visited Miami and stayed at a very interesting boutique hotel called the Indian Creek Hotel. The hotel is further up than 5th street, but it is a perfect location, especially for someone looking to get married. there is a very pretty resteraunt/lounge area in the back (the food happens to be exceptional) and there is also a pretty pool area. I highly recommend this hotel because it is very affordable and very pretty. If you wish for a bigger room they also have suites available (i took a suite) for not much more money. The hotel was also right by South beach so if u wanted to walk to 5th st it is about a 10 to 15 minutes walk maximum. if u get a chance, make sure to eat at the resteraunt at the hotel. it is phenomenal.

If you are looking to really enjoy your accommodations and not be cramped in a hotel room to prepare for your big day, i would recommend renting a short term vacation condominium or house with all the comforts of home. There are plenty in south beach, try MiamiHabitat.com and BestMiamiConcierges.com can help you around town with any planning you need
