Singapore Between flights in Singapore
Posted: Wed May 27, 2009 08:31 AM UTC
I arrive Changi Airport at 15:35 friday afternoon and depart at 8:40 Sat morning

What I would like to do id go into Singapore when I arrive and then return about midnight, go through security and go to the transit hotel for 6 hours as will have checked my bag through to a further destination

Is this possible???

Also are the luggage lockers At Changi Airport I can use?

Many thanks in advance

Yes, it is very much possible to pop out of the airport and do some sight seeing on Friday afternoon. You probably will be out by 4pm after clearing the customs.

There is an information counter that you can find out about the luggage locker and airport hotel.

Google Changi Airport and you can find their homepage with more information for each terminal.

Train to city takes about 25 mins. Cost about 1 Euro or 2 SGD. Bear in mind the train pass will add another 1SGD which is refundable at the end of the trip.

Good reply regarding Changi Info desk.
It would probably be quicker to take a taxi from the airport.Go to Clark Quay- its a lovely area alongside the river, with great restaurants & markets etc.

There is a great 'chill out' room at Changi ( I forget what it is called) in old terminal- it has massage beds, and other beds where you can sleep for free.
Its quiet, and always beautifully cool.

At 4pm on Friday I'm not sure if the traffic would be good... And it probably takes the same time to get to the city as train. with all the surcharges... taking a train with be more cost efficient...

One thing for sure if it rains, take the train...

I was in a similar situation 2 years back.this is what i think you can do--
you dont have to carry your luggage.there is a place where they keep them for transit passengers who want to go into the city.you can then go to china town and try some food, shopping and massages.then go to clark quay/boat quay for a good boat ride and see singapore by night.you could also eat there and then either get back to the airport to sleep as Lynne suggested or take a room somewhere and get back early morning to the airport to take your flight.
I too would suggest you take the train, since it is a weekend and the traffic could be a pain.
singapore is very safe,so dont worry about travelling late in the night.have fun,

Aside from the night life in Clark Quay, you can also do some gadget shopping in the 24-hour Mustafa Center.

For more information about what to see in Singapore, you can read my article http://www.ehow.com/how_4906680_stay-organized-singapore.html

There's also a rooftop swimming pool in Changi airport. I wish I had checked it out when I stayed overnight at the airport for my onward flight to Seattle.

There is also the Plaza Premium Lounge in the new Terminal 3. (plus one in transit in Terminal 2)
website http://www.plaza-ppl.com/sg_en/lounge.php#05
Friends of mine used that for an extended stopover in Jan this year & are still raving about it. It has food, drinks , chairs , internet and papers, plus a napping facility.
