Punta Cana transportation

I. have been to the D.R. many times, but never to the east.I would get in at Las Americas and then travell by bus (Metro or Caribe tours) to the North. How do I get from Sto Domingo int. Airport to Punta Cana? I checked Metro and Caribe Tours they dont go that route.

Neither Metro nor Caribe go that way due to unions.

To get to Punta Cana you either take a bus IN Santo Domingo or a taxi/transfer service from the airport.

How to take the bus:

1) Taxi to any of the bus terminals on step 2 (it's not advisable to take public means to or from the airport, but it's doable)
2) Which kind of bus would you like?
2.1) Expreso Santo Domingo Bávaro, 809-682-9670 in Santo Domingo, in Bávaro 809-552-0771, departs in both directions at 7am, 10am, 2pm and 4pm. Confirm with them the timetables
OR
2.2) Express or "caliente" (bus with no a/c, might or might not stop everywhere) minibus to Higüey from Parque Enriquillo. From there, go to the Friusa bus terminal (Sitrabupu) and take one of their buses. All buses coming to Bávaro from Higuey go around all the hotels.

Buses from Santo Domingo to Higuey run every 15 minutes at peak times (8am - 6pm) and every 30 mins in off-peak times (6am - 8am, 6pm-8pm) and vice versa from Higuey to Santo Domingo (first bus leaves at 4.30 am)

From Bavaro to Higüey/and from Higüey to Bavaro, buses run every 15-20 minutes from Friusa bus terminal (Sitrabapu) next to Politur police station. After 10pm, service is around once every hour.

In both cases, the trip takes about 4 hours.

3) If you want to take a transfer service, check into http://dominicanairporttransfers.com/ and http://www.dominicantaxi.com/ (I don't know them but have heard of some who've used it).

I have reputable taxi companies on my Santo Domingo page, if you wanna call and inquiry (dunno if they speak a lot of English). I also have accommodation tips in the city: Old Town and other residential areas, if you guys decide to stay in the city. IMO, that's the best for you guys unless you land late at night and want to depart early in the morning.

Hope it helps.

For your convenience, contact Winson Taxi Services and spend a delightful day discovering our magical island, over which the French and English fought fourteen times. Experience the resulting mixed cultural heritage and St. Lucia's breathtaking beauty.
