Venezuela Bus from Colombia to Venezuela
Posted: Mon May 25, 2009 05:01 PM UTC
Hi, does anybody know if you can get a direct bus from Cartajena to Merida, I know its a long trip but I need to get there quickly. If not what is the best and safest route. Also can you get a bus from Merida to Caracas airport? I dont really want to go into Caracas if I can help it.
Thanks

I have never heard of a bus between Cartagena and Mérida. You can change buses in Maracaibo. There are many buses a day from Maracaibo to Mérida and it takes about 8 hours. I don't think you want to arrive to the bus station in Maracaibo in the middle of the night, so check the time table of the direct bus from Cartagena.

When I flew between Caracas and Mérida last summer a one way ticket was 135 dollars. The domestic terminal is just next to the international terminal so this can be a good option.
Buses from Mérida to Caracas takes about 13 hours and they go to one of the bus terminals, not the airport. You can take a taxi from the bus terminal in Caracas to Parque Central from where the Airport bus is leaving.

Ok, thank you for your info. Do you know much about PUERTO COLOMBIA? I may go there instead, is it a really nice beach?

Puerto Colombia is more on the way to Caracas and it is a nice place. Besides spending time on the beach you can take a tour to Henri Pettier NP. When I visited I also walked along the road to Choroní and had a look around in this pretty little town.

If you want to see how the beach looks I have some photos from Puerto Colombia on this page:
